Two Morning Services during July
As announced last Sunday, we will shift to having two Sunday morning services beginning July 7th, 2019 and continuing through at least the four Sundays of July. It is possible we may decide extend a couple of more weeks into August depending on heat and space issues.
The schedule for the services will be at 8:30 & 10:30 am each Sunday, and between services we will have designated fellowship time with coffee and refreshments downstairs (approx. 9:45- 10:25am). We strongly encourage everyone to either stay after early service or come early for the later service in order to spend time in fellowship with the larger church body.
The rationale for moving to two services during this season is largely due to the limited comfortable seating capacity in our church building. We get a lot of visitors during the summer, with July always the busiest month of the year with respect to average attendance on Sunday mornings. It is also one of the hottest months of the year, and as we all know our A/C situation leaves something to be desired. We can only seat about 150 people comfortably in the lower section of the church, and we usually average well over that each week during the month of July. By going to two services we hope to avoid the need to use the balcony seating entirely and create more space for us and visitors on Sunday morning. We have tried to minimize the potential impact to schedules by having the second service start at 10:30, which is very close to our current start time of 10:15. Since each service will be smaller, the 10:30 service should get out around the same time our normal 10:15 am start time. This will be discussed at our congregational meeting this Sunday, please speak to any of the Elders if you have questions.
