Redeemer Philosophy of Worship
Over the past several months myself and some of the other Elders have received questions and had conversations regarding our worship music and style. As a result, we have spent time discussing this issue, wanting to make sure that we and our church are all on the same page regarding what we believe the Bible and our reformed heritage indicate is most important about the worship music that a congregation has on Sunday mornings.
As a result, at the last session meeting the Elders unanimously voted to adopt the attached philosophy of music as a summary of the guiding principles and core values for our worship music on Sunday mornings. We believe this document is an accurate reflection of what the Bible, our Confessions, and Book of Church order have to say regarding church song, and are hopeful that it will be helpful in bringing clarity and unity as we seek to glorify God each week in our singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Please direct any questions you may have to myself or any of the Elders.
